Tortilla Pizza - An experiment

Lawn Ranger inspired me to try something new. There is a brand of tortillas that are uncooked when you buy it, so I thought I would try using tortillas as my pizza crust.

It worked OK, but nothing to write home about. If you use one tortilla, you will have the thinnest crust pizza you'll ever eat -- crunchy, but thin. If you use 3, that works better, but not nearly as good as making your own pizza dough. Bottom line is I think this works OK if you decide at 4:00 you want pizza and you haven't made any dough.

My usual ingredients. Provolone cheese, Asiago cheese, Fontina cheese, Mozerella cheese, and Parmagean cheese.

    That looks good. And easy...

Last year I had a bunch of stuff in the frig that needed eating so here's how I did mine... Turned out surprisingly good.

Maybe we need to show the masses at the Texas Eggfest that pizza on the Egg is easy.

  I guess there are no new ideas under the sun. Your's looks good too. I'll do it again when I'm in a time crunch.

Speaking of the Texas Eggfest, I picked these up at Spec's for the Afterparty. They are fantastic !!! You'll need some rum or tequila to wash them down with, though.

Hey that looks great from my house. I like your herb garden and I like your rain gauge and I would eat your pizza any day. ;) Tim

Thanks Tim. You're welcome any time. Just give me 2 hours notice so I can buy the tortillas. :)

    Morning Gary:

Your "quick & easy" tortilla pizzas look delish!

We've been doing the tortilla pizzas for quite a while since first seeing AZRP do some. Like you said they don't replace "real" dough, but are hard to beat for a good meal when you get home after 7:30pm (regular event around our house) and just have a craving for pizza. We did a bunch at the recent FloridaFest and they were a big hit.

    Have a GREAT day!

    Thanks, Jay.

Gosh, it appears that I'm the last one on the forum to try this out. I thought I was blazing new territory.

I think your's looks real good. With the tortilla pizzas I tend to limit the toppings (other than cheese) to two. But because they are small, we will make 3 or 4 different ones.

Those look good to me. I'm making Morro Bay Rich's tritip for dinner. You've now inspired me to make Mexican pizza appetizers. Have some tortillas and queso fresco in the fridge.

Queso fresco is good but doesn't melt very well. I usually go with some cheddar and sprinkle the queso on top of it. -RP
