Now I'm still waiting on delivery of my XL BGE, but I have started to order some of the accessories I'll need. I ordered the triangle hanger, 16 inch ceramic plate and the lump reducing ring from the ceramic grill store. I have to say that I am seriously impressed with the workmanship.*
I've been an avid griller for years now and I don't think I've ever seen accessories made out of this heavy a guage of stainless steel ever. When I was ordering them I did have a thought that they might be too flimsy to stand the constant heat and usage through the years to come. Not anymore, I don't think I'd but a ding on either the triangle hanger or the lump reducing ring if I ran over it with my car.
Just wanted to give credit where credit is due. Nice workmanship!
*(I decided against the plate setter due to multiple peoples thoughts on the platesetter cracking and also being to big to handle for the XL model when hot.)

Which reducing ring did you end up with?
-
I got the solid sheet steel one. Seemed more durable than the other one. After getting the trangle hanger in and seeing how thick the steel was on it I think that either reducing ring would stand the test of time.

I was thinking on getting one of those. U may have made my mind up for me. :laugh:Dave San Jose, CA The Duke of Loney

I have been debating back and forth on which ring to get for a while.. I will likely go solid.
-
I have not used the solid one but the SS ring version works very well.
Not sure if this is the exact one sold now as it is an early model.
Do not have a problem with lump falling out and the increased air flow will really get a nice hot fire.

Did you skip the Flip Ring?
It is very nice.

I intend on ordering it when it stops being "out of stock". Right now they are waiting on getting the redesigned XL BGE in so they can finalize it and start producing a new flip ring. The second its available they will have my order.

Good to hear, as that was my one concern.
Thanks-
I wonder if he is going to make an adjustable rig, for the XL, since it will have more dome.. -
Mud Pig, I'm glad you posted, it reminded me of several things I need to order from Tom! Not only does he produce awesome products for our eggs, but he's one heck of a cook as well!

I'm glad you found my post helpful. I can't wait to start using my new egg when it comes in.

The Ceramic Grill Store
Made for the XL Big Green Egg to make it use less lump or for zone heat cooking by pushing it towards the back of the Egg.
Work great.

thanks for the kinda remarks on the products. You should see some stuff that did not make the grade. This is my favorite, what the.........I was trying to make a grid jig and basically did a great job weaving two grids together......

I would like to purchase some products from you. Do you ship to Canada? Anyways, where are you located? I will be heading into the states so I maybe passing through or maybe I can take a detour. Let me know please.
-
Tom's website is here and he does ship to Canada,. International shippings is a little spendy so I'm going to go to one of the fests that Tom will be at OKC in my case, save on the shipping and meet the man in person.

Thanks for the info about where he will be. I did see the site before. I was hoping for a Canadian retailer or middleman.
Thanks -
Just ordered the open lump reducing ring..

I am in Denton, TX, north side of the DFW metroplex. I share your frustrations on shipping to Canada.
As an alternative, we've shipped to US hotels and such, so the packages meets you at your US destination.
Feel free to email me.

Tom,
Anything I have purchased has always been fine. We sometimes get hit with the taxes but that would happen if you had a deal with BGE Canada anyway.

I love this so much! I have no idea what it is, but it's awesome! What do you cook on it, individual strands of spaghetti?
