Well done beef question
Little Steven
Posts: 28,817
I could look this up but I trust an eggers opinion more than a textbook. I am doing three prime ribs on Sunday and need to do one well done. Having never (intentionally) cooked any meat to well done i am not sure of the temp. 145* comes to mind but I am not sure.
Thanks
Thanks

Higher unfortunately Steve. 160 or more for true "Well done" God it would pain me to do that......
-
Mark,
Thanks...I was afraid of that :S The biggest one I'm doing to 115* and resting. Jeez, that's like turkey.

WW is right Steve... but pull them at 150 or 155° and they will go to 160°
Larry -
I looked at one chart and it said to pull at 155, rest to 160 - and that was for MEDIUM WELL!! At least now I know - for the next time I cook a steak for my mother! 180 should do it for her.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Thanks Larry,
I'll have to go to confession first...and I am not Catholic.

As a med-well steak eater, one of the best aspects of the Egg is the moisture retention.
-
Michael,
My Mom is gone. I would be too if I ever cooked a burned steak for her when she was here.

Mom will be 94 in July so she must be doing something right! Refuses to eat bloody (or even pink) anything. She pulls her eye round at about 180 I think! It's a little dry.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

One piece of good news Steve, I (over)cooked my first steaks on the egg to well done and they came out juicy anyway.
And there still is an outstanding bribery request, if you could get back to us on that.
Doug -
Steve, can you cut them in half then serve the end slices? That would give you 12 pieces.
-
By jove, I think Pat is on to something
I think we need to revoke LS's Egg card for considering geauxing well done on prime rib. -
Pat...Clever boy you!!!!!!!!
-
I'd just hate to see anyone ruin a big hunk of beef over something so trivial as family

  -
Steve,
That's how my wife likes her beef. :pinch: I F'it up 98% of the time.
Trying to convert her. She grew up eating burnt shiz. -
Brilliant!

Then you could still toss'em in the au jus for a spell and kill any pink. :pinch: -
Frank,
Poolman eats a seven bone rib roast on a stick. He calls the outside the crunchy part.
Do you need a license for these. I haaven't been caught in 12 yers but I better get on it.
Thought you might enjoy these. When we got home from Florida we found Spike all matted and dyed green. He's about a quarter the size he was this morning. Look at the collar.

Hoss, years ago we took all the kids and family to a high end steak house and daughters boyfriend ordered the most expensive one, 20 oz fillet, well done with ketchup
$65 worth of dog food. Glad he's no longer around, actually he hasn't been seen for a few years.
-
NO..NO..NO.. 2 Medium and 1 rare!!
 Well done is a waste!! -
Nah they wont even let me down there, as for my english

Well done prime rib makes baby Jesus cry, Steven.
