Alternate forum software?

Love the forum and all the helpful folks here fo' sho! Also appreciate all the work you guys do to keep this site up and running!

I do have a bit of a devil of a time navigating past history and bringing up old posts to display at the top of the forum. Sometimes when I add a post it comes up to the top and sometimes it stays on page 15 etc... so I don't get replies to old messages.

On other forums I'm on, I see they often are using other forum software, such as phpBB, vBulliten, etc that have a modern look and make it very easy to find posts that are frequent regulars. For example:

http://www.fornobravo.com/forum/
or
http://www.home-barista.com/forums/

If there is any interest or desire to look at some alternatives, is there something we might be able to do to help make it happen?

Best rgds
Geoff

    OzarkQ,

I know your question wasn't meant to start a debate but every time this comes up there is one. People like the feel of this forum and that usually ends up as the concensus. Everyone knows it id antiquated but most of us are too.

most here really dont like the bulliten box forums. one thing about them is that they bring up those old posts, people here want answers immediatly, not days weeks months later. if you need an answer, its always best to just start a new post here. when the primo forum changed the people with eggs stopped reading it altogether and that forum is not that active anymore

Oh yeah - not trying to start a debate!! B)

I'm one of those who tries to just look up old info and then ask questions rather than starting new topics... but I do understand the comment about antiquated...
  • they've done the best they can to satisfy many of the folks that want new stuff and those that don't want any changes at all...

losing battle. they've done their best.
