Tricked the Mrs into a 2nd Egg! Now what?

Okay, the Chancellor of the Exchequer has conceded that a 2nd Egg is inevitable. I'm getting ready to build an outdoor kitchen/table and mentioned that I should build in expansion room for a 2nd Egg so "if" I ever add another one, I wouldn't have to rebuild the whole thing. That's when she conceded that was a good idea. Now the question is, what size?

I have a large, and just about every accessory I can think of (Adjustable Rig with spider and 13" stone, sliding rig, platesetter, Stoker) so that suggests another large is a good idea so I can maximize use of accessories.

Alternatively a small makes sense as I can use it when I don't have a big cook, or a dual temp need, but it would mean a bunch of new accessories need to be bought (I could use the $$ that is the difference in price).

Space isn't really an issue as I'm building an 'L' that should be 8' long on one side, and about 4' long on the other, so I don't think one size or the other will make that big of a difference in the space I have.

Has anyone who went L/Sm regretted it? Alternatively, and L/L owners out there that wish they has L/Sm?

When we built our ODK we planned for two larges and I really like having the eggcessories be interchangable, but then we went and added a small a year later for the quick, two person cooks (and to travel with, even though we have a mini also). That being said, I would still prefer two large if I only had two (to me the most versitable & workable combo).

Any remote possibility that you'll want a third egg in the further future? How about building the kitchen with 'obvious' spaces for two large, and a 'subtle' space for a small? Even if your second egg is a small it can still sit in the space for large, but down the road if you buy another large it can bump the small which can be moved to occupy the preplanned 'subtle' space. Sounds more complicated than it really is but you don't want to give away your ultimate motive :woohoo:

I have a large, and just bought a small about three weeks ago. I haven't used my large since then, but I am still playing with the new toy. I had to ask myself why I wanted a second egg, and my reason was not capacity. If your motive is capacity, I would get the large for the second egg. I have other cookers, but I wanted a small I could take with me, and also do quick cooks. The small does this for me perfectly. I even did a pork butt on it Friday night, and half of my fuel was still left Saturday morning when it was done. I think if you are undecided, I would think you should go large. You have got to want the small to be happy with it, otherwise you will be upset later. Good luck with whatever one you choose.

I had 2 large eggs for a few years before adding the small. Now with the mini I'm thinking of getting rid of 1 of the larges. The large/ small combo is the best for my needs as both larges going at the same time only happens a few times a year.

Build the table for two larges and one small! We have two larges and I can see a definite need for a small for when it's just the two of us or when we want a little extra space during a party. I think with the L/L/S combo, you have any eventuality covered!
