Smoked Salmon - Flakey or Not?

I have cured many a salmon into Gravlax - which is essentially the "bagel lox" we all know and love, but not smoked. It is not flakey, it is best sliced paper thin with a sharp knife. If I smoke a gravlax, will it get flakey? Or will it stay as oily and stiff as it is when it comes out of the gravlax cure?
the cures they you all have used before smoking - do they leave the fish stiff and oily like I've described? most pics on the forum have a pretty flakey appearance.

there's cold smoking and hot smoking
cured fish can be smoked either way. if you want the silky translucent kind of salmon, sliced thin, then you'd have to cold smoke it. in that case, the smoke is for flavor, and the fish is not cooked. and the fish needs to be cured for that, since it isn't going to be cooked.
you can hot smoke salmon too, and that should be taken to maybe 145-150 internal. i don't ever cook salmon until it flakes, frankly. too overdone. -

that looks to have been cold smoked. not sure how hot that stove top smoker gets that she used.
