Cedar Planked Salmon

Tonight was our first attempt at egging on a plank. We used the cedar planks we got in our welcome bag at the Sunshine State Eggfest Meet & Greet from Maine Gilling Woods. I basically used the Copper River Salmon recipe from the forum, with a little modification.

I seasoned the salmon fillets with DP Raging River rub the night before and let them sit in the fridge. I soaked the wood over night, as well, which may have been a little overkill.

Then, I put the salmon on top of the plank and mixed up the butter/brown sugar glaze and poured some on.

Here's a picture of the salmon, taken after the first 10 minutes on the BGE:

(Ooops, I didn't think about the glaze running off onto the platesetter!)

Here's my dinner plate:

Yes, that is a modified version of the Crash Hot Taters I've been reading so much about. I made then with a lot less EVOO, so they weren't as crunchy and stuck to the skillet a bit. But, I added a little cheese and sour cream to compensate for the calories/fat saved from skipped some of the EVOO. LOL

Overall, dinner was very good. I'm not crazy about Salmon, but I actually liked this recipe. (Someone else said that on the recipe page!) Will definitely have this meal again!

Just finished making the raspberry BBQ sauce for tomorrow night's chicken! Straining the raspberry seeds was fun in a sadistic sort of way.
