My First Brisket!
Eggsimus Maximus
Posts: 17
Not only was this my first brisket on my new Egg, but it was my first brisket period. I thought it turned out well for a first-timer. The family seemed to approve, and I guess that's what counts.
The Egg made it so easy. I actually slept through my alarm early Sunday morning, but when I finally woke up and ran outside the Egg was still cruising right where I had left it at 230*.
I served it with potato salad, beans, slaw, and fried okra. Sorry, I was in a hurry to dig in and I forgot to take any plate pics.

That's a beautiful hunk of cow...great work!! Next time I'd remove the brisket from the foil before cutting

Great job on your first brisket. That's one of the toughest cooks and it looks like you nailed it. Nice pictures too, looks like you've got this posting down. I look forward to more of your cooks.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. It took a bit of beginner's luck, but most of the credit goes to the Egg. All I did was stick that baby on and watch the clock tick for about 15 hours. Foiled it and threw it in a cooler for 2 more hours and she was done.

Nice job! I did my first one this weekend also (first time ever too), but I forgot to take the final pics - I need to curb my enthusiasm (No need to post pre-cook pics).

My brisket turned out good, but I think it could have been better. I made a bad choice on my wood chips and had no smoke ring, very tender though. How long did your brisket go? Mine was 10.4lbs at 11 hours, my dome got a little high twice - 300*, goal was 250*. Was 230* your dome temp or grate? -
Mine was just under 12lbs and it went 15 hours. I had it at 200* when I first put it on. I started it fat side down for 3 hours. Then cranked the egg to 230* and went to fat side up for 3 hours. Then back to fat side down for the final 9 hours. I raised the temp to 250* for the last two hours because I wanted to make sure it would be ready in time for lunch. All temps mentioned were dome temps.
