Hoss,
You want a pressure canning system. Pressure cookers generally don't have the real estate.

What do you want to can?
You might just need a water bath canner, which is a lot cheaper.__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious -
Thanks. The largest pressure cooker I have found is 16 Quarts, the largest pressure canner I have found is 15.5 Quarts.About $150.00 difference in the cooker and canner!I did find the same brand canner for about the same price as the cooker but it was only a 10.5 Quart.I can see the canners are much heavier duty than the cookers.I just want to get the most bang for the BUCK!
-
I got one of those. Some stuff you just have to have the pressure.I just started canning stuff last year and the water bath worked but I do not want to be limited.
-
Hoss,
The cookers and canners are pretty similar but the canners come out cheaper in the large sizes. The science isn't any different but you can get a decent cooker for fourty bucks.

The 16 QT cooker was the same price as the 10.5 QT canner. It had a 5 star rating but only 2 reviews.I'm thinkin that the 16 Q cooker will do anything I'm plannin on plus has the xtra capicity.Your thoughts???...And THANKS!

I have a 25 Qt All American Pressure Canner that is built like a tank. No gaskets and use an aluminum to aluminum seal system. Will last 100 life times and some day be in the Smithsonian. Built in Wisconson and comes in every size imaginable. Like the egg, not cheap, but well worth the investment.

Hoss,
Civil engineer posted and I think he is a lot smarter than me. I've been reading about pressure canners lately but I don't know anything other than cookers. Sometimes it's bestto follow studious guys

That's the canner I've been lookin at.The biggest one I have found is 15.5 QT.It must be a Prima Donna! I love Quality but am afraid it may be OVERKILL for what I'll use it for. A 16 QT pressure cooker for 100 bucks VS. a High quality canner, only 10.5 QT for the same price.I'm thinkin I'll try the big cheap one.If it does'nt do the job,I can always trade up.Thanks for your input. If I knew I would REALLY use it a lot I would go with the one you have!

Keep in mind LS,I may be canning LaBomba'Loney for our friends at the FESTS!!!
Thanks for your help! The one he recommends is a TANK!Would last FOREVER!
-
Don't open it before it stops steaming out the top. Pay attention to that and the rest don't matter.

THANKS!

I will have to recommend an All American Pressure Canner. Simply the best IMO!
I have the 15QT 7 Quart Jars at a time can be canned.
Then name also says everything to me as well.

I just don't know! I sure would like to!

That was a blast at the afterparty! We REALLY enjoyed it.I'm a lot better than handin out food than cookin it.Thanks

A final thought...
I usually can pints which hold 1 pound of chicken or pork loin (the chicken is fantastic). The 25 Qt. allows me to double stack the jars with 8 on a layer (I think). I believe my canner allows a double stack of quart jars also. Anywho... the canner is pretty big and heavy on the stove top. I would try and access what your needs are and don't buy anything to big unless you have the need.
Little Steven: I am not that bright. Thirty years ago I couldn't spell eigineer and now I are one. (deliberate spelling)

One other thing - canning has kinda gone out of style in the US, so after you do your research if you look at thrift stores or yard sales you'll find *lots* of them. They aren't the glitzy new ones and you have to check that they still have the weight for the release valve, but they have canned tons of things in their day and are still ready for more. Way, way cheaper than new.
Also - if you are in the US or Canada, there is a whale of a lot of information available from your county extension agent on how to's, times for various materials, etc,

Thanks!
