Hey newbies....old posters...now friends
A lot of the folks who replied to me are now great friends. Celtic Wolf's (Pete)comment about starting a pool to see how long it would be before I got another BGE...the answer was less than 1 year..
anyway to newbies this is what you are in for...good luck as it is worth it...and thanks to all of the great friends I have made along the way.(and will make in the future)I hope you enjoy reading this 2 1/2 year old post.

That's funny Kim. -RP

Kim just read the old post and it took me right down memory lane, back to the day when I got my first Lg Egg.
Can ya believe the store is similar. Now I do most of the cooking and most of my thoughts are about cooking on one of the 3 Eggs I now have.
Thanks for posting and see ya in three weeks! :woohoo:

That's great! Funny thing is last night as I was sitting with my daughter & granddaughters eating my first egged meal, all I could think about (besides how good that chicken was) was what am I going to cook next. I guess you can become obsessed rather quickly
-
Yep we now have 3 eggs and while I still play some golf & hunt & fish some Egging is my main hobby. :P
Look forward to seeing you guys in 22 days...but who is counting??
-
Thanks Randy. I just wanted the newbies to know what they were in for..
:silly: :cheer: -
Get out while you still can... :P
Just kidding, but it is kind of scary. (in a good way)

Kim it was nice meeting you during the eggtoberfest 2009 event. I love reading your posts all your cooks are fantastic. I hope to see you again sometime. Soon I hope. Tim
I got my second egg one week before my one year anniversary. :woohoo: -
Kim, it is great to see that the enthusiasm remains. I think your story is pretty typical for new eggers. I love mine and am obsessed with trying new things. Unfortunately, egging has taken me away from some remodeling and yard projects. At least the down times allow me some time to play with the kids.
Here's to many more years of happy egging. -
Thanks & You too Tim...I am sure we will see each other at Eggtoberfest if not before....
-
You are right on... Enthusiasm is everywhere among Eggheads, and it is real. I would say it's the one thing that keeps me reading posts all these years.
I thought back to my first post. It isn't in the archives now but probably occurred in late 1999. I was totally giddy after posting my question, "How long does it take knuckle hair to grow back?" Almost immediately I got replies welcoming me to the cult. I was hooked from then on.
Thanks for reminding us.

Terry,
Did you see my reply to Leroy about your losing chest hair story? Still one of the funniest I ever heard...

-
yea reminds me of when i first got my egg::: see i did not have a computer in my house.. i had a dvd player and my first bge came with a vcr tape. well that left me only one way to learn how to cook.. the manuel. well i put it on the back of my toilet. and read it cover to cover several times.. well i did burgers and chicken just running the thing and not spending much in case of mistakes.. well i finally decided to make a ribeye. and read all the instructions.. well on the saturday night i decided to do the steak i had to work at the club (i worked as a dj for several years at a night club). i had gotten my shower and shaved but had not gotten dressed. i was out on the back porch in my bokers cooking this steak. well opened up the egg and WOOOSH!!! there goes all my chest hair, arm hair, partially got my eyebrows, eyelashes, and my hair...
lesson learned read the page that warns you about flashback!!!!! :pinch:
too funny 4 years later i got a computer in my house and first night found the forum. knew it was here and asked the bbq sauce question from work. but been on everynight since
best addiction i have ever had

Terry, That's a great story.
There have been times that I have been quick to open the dome after letting it rip wide open for 15 min then closing it down and not so long later open and wishhhhhhhh! No more arm hairs! :S Tim
We all know what happens when we sear hamburgers and go to flip them.

Judy and I were luck to meet the Vidalia1 family also. And Coach Crab taught us how to open crabs.

Thanks Terry. We were ready for it with the camera and all. I told Cindy to stand there because I was getting ready to open the dome and flip them and we got this shot. I did it on purpose to have a big flame pic in my archives. I hope you and yours are doing fine. Tim
