Along with Sparky's link do a search and go back forever search for earthbox and earth box in the subject matter. There were a lot of different ideas posted.
I believe mainegg made a bunch of them also.
I bought the earth boxes and used those. This is a good time of year to buy and get a little discount on them.

I made this one from a website. It cost me nearly just as much to make it as it would to buy one. But it was fun. Unfortunately, the Fla winter wasn't too kind , and while we have about 12-14 tomatoes on the vine, not sure how many will make it.

Good one!thanks JJ.

Thank you.
Good luck with the maters!

I have four of them. Strawberrys are growing in mine now. I agree, I rather buy them and have it comes with all the parts and wheels than save only a few bucks.

Looks to be an advertisement for Earth Boxes and is not even labeled as OT either, what good are rules? Where is Fidel when we need him??

You are quite an observer dude. You need to get a job with BGE as a forum monitor.

Here are a couple of photos of two that I made last year.

I bought the cargo boxes at Sam's for $12.00 -
We use galvanized trash cans. 20 gal for tall growing vegetables and 32 gal for herbs and peppers and the like. The first year we fill the can with straw and pack it down as tight as possible and fill the top 12"-18" with potting soil. The straw holds the moisture and we don't have to spend a fortune on the soil. The straw will pack as it decomposes over the growing season but we have never had a problem with the vegetables rooting. The next season we top off the cans and start again. Every five years we empty the cans and start the process all over again. Works well for us.

Thanks!

Good idea,Thanks!

My pleasure. I drill a few holes in the bottom of each can and set them on three bricks to allow for good drainage. Saves your back and no pulling weeds! Good luck with your garden and good eatin'.
