My husband is about to purchase the lg. big green egg.
I want to get him some accessories for it such as: the pizza stone, pizza piel and cedar plank. Does anyone have any recommendations on what brands and/or where to find these products? Thanks[p]

    annajack,
cedar plank is free if there is a cedar fence builder around you just need to ask for scrap 1x6 pickets and cut to length

    annajack,
You can get pizza peels at Williams Sonoma or any restaurant supply store. [p]TNW

  • annajack,
Don't waste your money on lesser quality pizza stones, like from Pampered Chef's & other places. Get one made by BGE at your local dealer. Too many people try others, only to have them crack on them. Mine sits outside year round here in Minnesota from 90 above to 20 below. 3 years counting, along with a plate setter too. I agree with TNW & others about peels & planks. I get mine from a local lumberyard. Just make sure you know the source of the Cedar or Alder & that it is not treated in any way & you will be fine. I got my peel at a kitchen collection type store for less than $10 on sale. Welcome aboard. . . .

    Martini Mark in MSP,
I agree with the Pampered Chef stone cracking. However, I think you can find quality OEM brand stones that will work in the Egg. I bought a hefty 16" stone from Crate and Barrel (which I haven't seen there since) which has done very well. The BGE large stone is only 14" in diameter and I needed a 16" stone. Regardless of what stone you end up with, it is a good idea to let it heat up with the cooker and not place a cold stone in a 600 degree egg.[p]TNW

annajack,[p]I like to shop at the restaurant supply places.... You can get a peel there, and a pizza cutter while you're at it. There's also some other items I like. For example, I find that the round deep dish pizza pans make a great drip pan, and a matching pizza screen works well for indirect cooking (I'll line the pan with foil for easy cleaning, spray the screen with pam like stuff, put the screen on top of the pan and load the screen with chicken thighs) I also pick up the flat aluminum pizza pans, the ones you cut a pizza on, to use for seasoning anything headed for the egg, and to use to carry the meat to and from the egg....
