Med BGE superbowl cook - w/ grill extender
Purpose
Posts: 91
First larger cook on my new Medium BGE. All of brooklyn is trying to get on my patio. Gotta love this thing. One Pork Butt and two racks of st louis (trimmed with the ends on the top rack. If I was making chicken today, I could probably fit a couple of breasts/ wings as well.

BTW - I have seen some posts discussing the Medium BGE and the grill extender. A lot of people seem to have trouble using the extender in the medium. As you can see from these pics, it has not been a problem for me. I dont think I am doing anything special except maybe trying to center the porcelain grill. Hopefully this is helpful - because it my opinion it is possible to use both in the MEdium successfully and double your space.
Happy egging and enjoy the superbowl

Gotta tell you I'm impressed that that much fits on there, I would swear you couldn't close the lid...
Nice Job.

Nice looking cook there!!! I have to say, I've never seen a lock on an Egg before. :P That's not to say they haven't been there, I just haven't noticed. It's not a bad idea.

very cool! :cheer: -
LOL I noticed that to Stacie! I was puzzled for a minute.. trying to figure out what eggcessory that was....but I guess I don't need one of those thankfully.
-
unfortunately, shared patio.
use the lock not so much to prevent theft, but to keep the lid shut so noone tries to use the egg and spray lighter fluid all over the inside or something like that. -
Now that's the ticket! Great looking pics. I can imagine the smoke/smells floating all over your neighborhood.
Got a meatloaf going on my med...raised grid direct cook.
You guys were lucky this time the Nor'easter pretty much missed you - correct? -
Morning Purpose:
Your right about using the grill extender on the medium...it was one of my best eggcessories when I had a medium (one of my son's now has it). You can get a lot on there with some "creative" arranging.
Here is a link to the cook I did of six slabs of baby backs...Ribs, ribs ribs
and a link to doing two approx. 8 lb brisket flats...briskets
Enjoy your cook!Have a GREAT day!

yeah, the snow missed us by about 1/2 a state (southern NJ got killed - apparently people stuck in their cars on the turnpike for 13+ hours)
Lucky us for once.
Actually pretty nice here today.
Enjoy the meatloaf -
those are some sick photos. I will get there soon.
yeah, this thing has been great for me. Most of the time I am only cooking for myself, so this is perfect. No complaints.
Nice to hear that they last long enough to be passed on.
