Beef on Weck

I don't know how many of you are familiar with this Buffalo delicacy. Man, it's pit beef on a weckinhiemer roll and truly amazing. Salt, caraway seeds and sugar. A ton of really good horseradish and sone jus. We were going to go to the Anchor bar but glad we didn't.

The jus is what makes that sandwich. You should get one at Otto's Bar by the airport. Huge sandwich and they have $2 pitchers of Labatt's. -
Yet to try buffalo myself...but certainly open to it...give us pics...there was a guy way back when in Atlanta that was cookin a bunch of it..even had a hat to match...don't believe I tried any back then..

That is what they said at the restaurant. After my Mom passed my dad went with a lady from Rochester and she called it weckenhiemer. I am gonna do this on the egg whatever it's called. I fly out of Buffalo frequently and it is the best airport food I've ever had.

I know the area very well. I do business with a lot of companies in Williamsville, Cheetowaga, and the airport area. The Landmark is the main restaurant in the airport where they serve anchor Bar wings and a great beef on weck.
Lots of great food and suds up there. -

It's kind of funny. I have lived within 70 to 100 miles of Buffalo my whole life and I have never spent any real time here. Been to Bills and Sabres games and concerts but not like a weekend or anything. Brianna has a dance comp in Grand Island this year and I might do it.

That was my first year at Eggtoberfest and dude was right beside me. The film crews were all over him but they were mowing down on my stuff. Hate the parking lot :laugh:

I just got done watching an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in Buffalo where one of the featured dishes was beef on weck. Great-looking pit beef, but the roll was the star. The cook finished it by dipping the crust side of the top into the home-made au jus, then into the salt/caraway mix. Piled the sammich high, too. Great stuff.

That was back in the aerosquadran days...before the "mothership" fests...I certainly don't remember meeting you that far back...say it aint so my friend....course I heve been known to meet T rex for the first time 3 yaers in a row...and Naked Whiz at least a couple of times for the first time...do still got one awesome "crown" cooler..and I know where that came from..

Honestly as far as that fest..we were flyin solo..Sally and me....so not real sure who that friend might be...but I swear..I don't remember ya from then...the fests seem to all run together anymore...if you were there..I believe ya..gonna have to look through some of my pics to find a younger Little Steven...you're really messin with me on this one..LOL
