Wicked Good Lump and Big Boy Toys
Hungry in Lilburn
Posts: 756
I just went to the Ace Hardwre (Ace Hardware of Lawrenceville) and bought a bag of Wicked Good Weekend Warrior. I am already impressed! It has huge hunks of wood in it, 10x the size of the largest I have gotten from the BGE bags. I paid the same exact price though of $19.98. I talked to Randy about getting a bulk purchase discount for 4 pallets. He will call me tomorrow. If I don't work tonight (on-call right now) I will call Kelly over at Hill's Ace Hardware in Loganville and see what he can do on 4 pallets of WGWW. If we can get as a good of as price as they did in Nashville I will put it out here to see if there is any interest. I am still interested in the Malis bulk purchase but would like to get my hands on a bag to give it a try. I have to admit, I would like to mix the BGE with the WGWW, I think that would make a good mix.
I also bought a MAPP tank with a 5'ft hose and holster. My wife thought I was nuts! I told her it was a big boy toy and I will use it in my business when I start it back up (I buy and rehab houses and rent them out). Right now it is a very expensive match! But it is kewl! I like playing with fire!

We have a reference for "Wicked Good Weekend Warrior" bulk pricing delivered to Atlanta area already. It was done by Forum member "Bash" a few months ago who had a pallet shipped to his office, much of which was graciously passed to many other forum members at his cost of $15.37 per bag. I believe this was noted as a reply to your other post on this subject recently by both Bash and "B&C".
The Flashback you experienced is a right of passage into Egging and has happened to all of us. Welcome aboard.

Thanks! I think I overestimated how easy the new lump would be to use. It was seriously hot, not like the BGE. My thermometer was pegged past the 750! Flames out the top and sides. I have first degree burns on my hands, arms and top of my head. I told my wife I have to get a crew cut and she said "NOT!" We met in college and I had a full beard and hair to my shoulder blades. Now I am happy to have hair on 9/10's of my head. Well, make that 7/10's now, my bald spot on front is showing! Thanks for your guidance on the lump purchase, I am looking forward to it!

This is still hot stuff! I know it is my imagination but I am having to use my heavy duty fire gloves to open the lid. The heat poors out when I open it up. and i am doing the steaks TREX style so I am at the 400 degree cook now. 400 is 400 no matter the lump but I swear it feels hotter and more widely dispersed. If I wasn't on call i would go have a drink. And I don't really drink! :woohoo:

"HIL", I believe that when desiring a best price on making an order for bulk lump it is done direct with the headquarters of the particular brand you desire to buy, not with the local hardware store. However the local hardware store may be able to get a better price. I also believe the lump has to be shipped to a loading dock not to a residence.

Thanks! I started with the local store because it is Sunday and Wicked Warrior company not open today. I sent them an email and plan to talk to them tomorrow. I am also going to talk to my dealer at Hill's ace hardware and see what kind of deal he can make. If they can beat the $15.34/bag that Bash got from WG then we all get a deal. If not, then we can go with WG. If we can't get the price below $18 I don't see where it is a deal at all.
I am going to talk to the mother ship as well and see what they will do on a pallet purchase. If they can't beat the $19.98/bag price on a pallet deal then they will not be an option either.
I sent a post to Bash to see if he when he might be interested in another load of WGWW. He had said he was good for now and that is understandable. I didn't have an egg in November and was only losely reading the forum. Would not have known what WGWW was anyway. Frankly, after tonight's experience I am not sure I am ready to use it! May need to stick to BGE with training wheels for awhile!

Thank you sir! I went back to that old post and read it. I didn't have an egg in November even though I have been a member of the forum since April 2008. I did not know lump from limburger. I did send Bash a post however after going back and reading it to see when he might be ready to do another order since he said he was good for now. I may be still to much of a novice though for the WGWW but if I can get a couple of cooks from this bag and not have that foul taste again then I may be ready for it. Tuesday will be the day to see. Will do chicken and that will definetly tell me. Will let it burn for at least 30 min after I close the dome at temp to make sure that all the VOCs are gone.

I have that torch...I love it...and I use the WGWW...makes it easy to light and get going.
