I tried wheat bread in the dutch oven this afternoon - it turned out great! We enjoyed it with some tilapia complements of the BGE

Looks great! Just got a DO for Christmas. Do you mind sharing the "how to's?"
-
It looks great too. I've tried bread twice...both times, I ended up with more lava rocks for my old electric smoker!
BTW - your set up is way too white and clean. Looks like it needs a good long smoke...say 10 hrs with some hickory wood and a couple of boston butts! Just call me when it's time to eat.

Lookin good! Impressive-lookin loaf there. I'm with Lanier Jim. If you can make bread that purdy I can't wait for your pulled pork!

it's easy -
That looks really nice! I did one in the oven over the weekend. Can't wait to get some bread in the Egg!
-
You are right - I've working my up for a long cook -
So you suggest a boston butt? any tips? -
Well - I guess I better study up on how to cook some Carolina BBQ
-
I highly recommend trying a loaf - it's worth the effort

The bread looks good. Why the DO and not just place the loaf straight onto the pizza stone. I am a complete novice baker and was just curious. This is the greatest signature EVAR!
-
Novice? I made my first bread last Friday. I've made three loafs since then. I just bought the dutch oven and thought I would give it a try.
It would be fun to try it directly on the pizza stone. -
Did you remove the dome Thermometer?
-
No I didn't remove the dome thermometer. It did hit on the dutch oven, so I learned to move the dutch oven to the back slightly.

When I saw your bread I had to log on to congratulate you. Very nice job of baking, beautiful pictures and a nice shot of your setup in the egg! :cheer:
Makes me want to bake a crusty rustic wheat. I bake Irish soda bread in my Dutch oven, turns out very good and it's fun to use the iron once in a while.
Have fun with your new egg and keep postin great pictures!
