Wine Question
Spring Chicken

What kind of wine goes with Egg'd meatloaf?
I was thinking a cabernet but then it struck me that a late model Mogan David would be more in line. Or perhaps a Chilean single vineyard malbec. But I guess that would depend on the type of bread accompanying the meatloaf. If it is cornbread, then maybe a nice muscadine made in the traditional way by home-grown sots... I get so confused when it comes to wines... Right now, Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill might do the trick.
Oh yea, price is not an issue up to $3.50 a bottle.

Leroy,
I would go with a nice Austrailian merlot (murh-lawt)

funny but I was thinking a slightly chilled Australian Yellow Tail Shiraz.
BTW what ever happened to our resident wine expert - I think his name was ChanceRe-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -
You forgot my favorites Thunderbird & Ripple. Great chaser for single malt.IMHO
-
I tried Yellow Tail Shiraz one time but found it lacking the necessary fizz to make it work with meatloaf.
Although it does work well with some solid pieces of bovine.
I could be that Australians know nothing about cooking meatloaf.

Not to mention it having one of those annoying corks...

You were right with the Malbec, but it has to be from Mendoza, Argentina.__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious

I've never been a big fan of Merlot. Tastes a little like Dr Pepper without the grapes. It's not on the list of possibilities.

Red.
-
Maybe, but I'm not going to fly down to Argentina anytime soon. Coming back is too hard.

Heck, I knew that. I'm just looking for what shade of Red to use. LOL

Or perhaps a Chilean single vineyard malbec.
Leroy, you answered your own question!! Can't beat a malbec with any High or Low Brow meal
-
Personally speaking, I’m with Rich! ANY red wine will do.
OTOH, if I really had a choice and I had more than $3.50 to spend on the bottle, I’d go with the malbec too… -
if it aint mateus, it aint no use. its pretty much the only wine i drink, all the others i cook with while sampling
ill treat myself to a good bottle of port once a year, but i really dont consider that a wine nor would it go with meatloaf. i would go with the pink rose bubbly matues in the decorative bottle and spend the extra 3.50 on it fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
