Daisy Wheel Not Sitting Flush

Smoke leaks around the edges and side of my daisy wheel out the bottom. I have realized that my top vent has a slight slope to the cut...Is it normal for it to leak some. I just compensate with my settings..

    If I have a clean burn I can't see any smoke leaking around the DFMT or gasket area.

    However, if I am using chunks or chips at times I can see smoke leaking between the egg and DFMT. I can see smoke leaking through the slider and or through the petals on the DFMT. I also can see smoke leaking out of the gasket area where I have run temperature probes through the gasket into the egg.

    The cook temperature is controlled by lower vent or the top vent (DFMT - dai8sy) or a combination of both. The DFMT can be completely off the egg and a low temperature can be controlled by the lower vent.

    Any leakage around or through the DFMT and or gasket area won't affect the stability or ability to control a reasonably low temperature in the egg.

    Does your DFMT wobble back and forth on the dome's chimney? If it does, some eggs were manufactured many months(maybe even a year)ago that had a problem with the height of the chimney(it was slightly too short). The DFMT would come into contact with the main part of the dome before seating on the top. Does this sound like your problem? If it does, the solution is to wrap a band of gasket material around the top of the chimney so that the DFMT will seat and seal before making contact with the top of the dome. BGE will provide you with free gasket material if this is indeed your issue.
