As friggin'cold as it has been lately I felt beef stew would hit the spot...and it did.

Browning the beef

and then the onions & garlic

Cooking away with carrots, mushrooms, sweet potatoes, zuchini, red wine & beef broth

Steamy

Ready to eat

Plated with a little green onions

Kim..............this is just what I need now......the perfect stew.............Felicidades!!

:laugh: I did the same cook yesterday (need to download the photos from the camera). It was my first time to add wine to the stew. A really great flavor since the wine mellowed and didn't over power the dish.LBGE Katy (Houston) TX

Thanks Beli...it sure hit the spot.

I agree Barry. It was the first time I added wine as well and it gave the stew a great body without overpowering it.

Looks great Kim. We have a heat wave-getting up to 50 this Thursday and Friday. You can bet I'll be out there with a big pot of beef stew going. Thanks for the inspiration.Larry

Looks great Kim.
I did a huge batch of venison barley soup today that turned out more like a stew -- thick, rich, hearty. Full of potatoes, carrots, onion, celery.
I wish I had thought to add mushrooms -
Hey Kim;
