Steve, I think you are right. With my other grills, including the Weber gasser, there is never any space to set dishes when putting food on and taking it off. I always ended up putting the dishes on the ground or trying juggle serving dish and tongs. I even dropped a whole slab of ribs one time.
That is why I wanted a fairly large work area. This table is a big step up in that department. -
I am thinking about a 3/4 to 1" dowel for the handle mounted somehow with leftover redwood. I think I can piece something together. I like your idea of bolting it on instead of using screws. The washers will distribute the stress a lot better than screw heads. Thanks.
