They had great success in finding total clowns.
  • I'm watching - back and forth to football game. These people have to be actors...nobody is that bad of a cook!

    Great show..amazing these people...This is a stove and this is a knife..lol
  • Do you think it's staged and scripted?
  • I made it through the intro - I couldn't hang with it - went to HGTV.
  • I can't hang with that show either. The promo's have been driving me nuts. Only watched a few of Anne Burrell's 'Secrets of a Restaurant Chef' and I'll never watch her again - she has like tourette's or something. Was put off by the guy in the promo yelling at the contestants like it was a boot camp. I don't believe for one minute that show isn't scripted.

Not to be Mr. Negative tonight, but I have a real problem with the show 'Chopped' as well. Just can't stand the attitudes of the judges, mainly Guarneschelli and Geoffrey Zakarian. These contests are given the most random foods, foods that are never paired together, given hardly any time to make the food, and yet they are so damn snoody with their remarks. Unlike Iron Chef, these contestants aren't given a heads up of what they'll have to work with. The fact that they can come up with anything amazes me, yet they're so arrogant with their critiques, as if it were so obvious or so easy, just drives me wild. There's a lot of good shows on FN, but a lot of candy-ass ones too. Bravo's 'Top Chef' is the hands down favorite for me.

    +1 to Top Chef

This show has to be scripted. The food that they fixed was terrible and for anyone to even think of doing some of those things is rediculous. For example, if you know you're on television and working with chefs are you really going to open a bunch of different soup cans and pour them together like the lady from SC?

Plus I don't see how anyone that is as terrible as any of those seem to be can recreate the dishes that the chefs prepared for them even with incredible recipes. IF they knew how to follow a recipe they wouldn't have made those nasty dishes to begin with.

  • two stories about my mom...

once, my then girlfriend and i went to visit the folks for dinner. got there around 3 or 4, mom had a roast in the oven. we had some drinks, and then the folks decided it was time to go golfing, despite the fact that the roast was DONE. went to a par three and played 18 holes, with the roast at 200 or so in the oven at home. got home and ate, and it was like sawing planks off a log.

the other one was the infamous broccoli story.
toward the end of dinner, my brother noticed white worms in his broccoli. the rest of us were mostly done with ours. we all had one or two small white worms in the broccoli. my mother's was GONE. she said, somewhat sheepishly, "i noticed them earlier, but was afraid to say anything"

my mom must have gone to the same cook class, you needed a hammer to pound the salt into a slice just to get it to stick. cant say she ever served worms though unless they were in the cod.

My ex-wife could have easily made that show. And people who cook like that do exist. She once poured a can of Hunt's Manwich sauce on top of a frozen pizza(before cooking it). Then she sprinkled soy sauce on it before serving. That's why I started to learn to cook myself.
Never underestimate the stupidity of people. Most idiot warnings on product labels are because of lawsuits by people just that dumb.
