Meat slicer on Craigslist

I found a new meat slicer on Craigslist for $100.
No picture
No description
I got two replies
I don't have a picture but I can tell you a little about it. It was too small for our needs at the deli it's got a 7 inch stainless Steele blade. I can send a picture on Monday if you are still interested.
I replied asking for more details but so far only got one reply stating they got it off ebay for $120. + $15 shipping.
What should I look out for?
What is a good brand?
Is $100. to much?

There was a post about meat slicers last week, I can't remember the name. It has a 7" blade and looked like it was metal construction and a pretty large motor.
New ranges form $70 to $110.
Oster, Rival and several other popular named companies, years ago, offered a plastic construction ss blade for +/- $80. I had the Oster brand.
Harbor Freight has that same design on sale for $20 (regularly priced $30). After many years my Oster had a problem with the plastic gear on the back of the blade so I picked up a $20 HF. Works as good as the Oster did, side by side one couldn't tell the difference.
Here is a ham cook cut deli thin off of the HF model.
If when the HF model fails I was thinking I would get the above mentioned all metal slicer.
In times past there has been a lot of comment about slicers some pretty expensive.
Just looked up the model that was referenced last week - Waring Pro about $60 - $70 new (didn't do any price searching).

Tim, if you can't get a straight answer or a picture, save your money and look elsewhere.

I am of the opinion the seller is trying to sell his meat slicer for to much money. They probably got stuck with a knock off on an ebay deal gone bad and merely trying to get their money back.
I'm not really trying to buy a meat slicer right now. There is nothing wrong with getting a free education ie contacting some of these posters and dickering with them.
Anyway I found a couple used went out of business commercial slicers for sale for $300. and $400. I am just poking around. I'll let you know if something comes up.
Thanks all. Tim -
Hey Tim,
Look at Chef'sChoice. They have the slicer, MaineEgg, Bordello and I bought back a few months ago. I believe we got them for around 79 bucks. I still can find it for the close to that amount. It's a good bench mark to start with.
The ChefsChoice slicer is by no means a commercial grade slicer, but by chilling the meat I've had good luck and am happy with the slicer. -
Thanks Bill. That's what I thought. This person has not admitted it but I think they have been hornswaggled and they are trying to do the same to who ever. Tim
I really don't want to make a purchase at this time i was merely checking to see if this was such a great deal that I could not turn it down. Thanks Tim
