FWIW - Frisper Vacuum Sealer

Someone (don't remember who) mentioned that he received an Oliso Frisper Vacuum system for Christmas. I was curious, so I emailed them and checked to see whether or not common zip-locks would work.

The reply:

"Regular zip-lock storage bags will not work with the Oliso Frisper system for a couple of reasons.

1. The Oliso bag is manufactured with a "channel" design on one layer of the bag. These channels is what allows air to be easily extracted during the vacuum cycle.

I hope the above information helps you understand the difference between the Oliso bag as compared to a regular plastic bag.

    I got the Frisper for Christmas, it actually works great! The bags canbe reused up to 20 times (as long as it wasn't meat in it). I do a lot of baking and have so far used it to seal up breads that I'm freezing and specialty flours and grains. It's not perfect and probably not as good as the foodsaver, but it is very small and fits easily into a drawer.
