Me and the wife left out Sunday evening after I got off work and went to Mother-in-laws for Christmas with her and my neice and nephew. Have to work Wends-Sat. night so only chance for Christmas with them. Didn't get back till late today and have always done some'en for the other two guys on my shift at work as well as cook Christmas dinner for us so as soon as I got home ran to my butcher and grabed 3 of my roast he cuts for me. A really good cut of meat that most of the time ends up deboned and made into sausage so can pick them up pretty cheap. Add a little house rub and pressimon wood indirect at 250-275 till internal of 155ish and your good to go. The raws:

Rubbed and ready.

Poor Andy and Jake had to stay in the cages while we were gone. Jake would destroy the house and Andy would hit the neighborhood and get shot again so they had to go up. Pretty stressed and wore out by the time we got home and was happy to be back with us!

Jake was about to fall off my wifes shoulder during supper he was so relaxed!

The pig is pork and ready for delievery.

  • Way to go “J”!
I always enjoy you sharing with us folk that don’t fire the Egg as often….
Although, last Monday, I did smoke about 5lbs. of cheese…Then fired her up to do a “full cut” 2” sirloin (that took up most of the grid), that was darn near a roast! Did that up with grilled veggies and tatters, and a spinach salad!
What more can a person ask?
Christmas day I’ll have the Egg humming early…I have a ham, turkey, beef roast and grilled squash on the menu! I promise, I’ll take some pictures this go-round.

P.S. I'm thinking both Jake and Andy are looking pretty shot! Hope you and the wife were doing better!
    Seems you were...BUT?

They must have had a new meat wrapper. You got Rib end pork roast there. Sirloin is the other end and NO RIB bones on it. The sirloin end is where the tenderloin part of the pork loin is and you will see a t-bone at one end and a small bone at the other end.

  • JL,

    Great looking cook!

Sorry you gotta work through Christmas, man ! I'm working today and tomorrow, but at least I do get Christmas off to visit with the kids. The daughter from Hot Springs has been with us since Sunday, but her husband has to work Christmas. (She surprised us with news of a grandbaby coming this summer - great because they have really had a tough time trying to get preg).

I hope you guys have a great Christmas. I look forward to seeing more of these great cooks !
  • Awesome looking cook, looks like a lot of great flavor and great looking roast. Good Eats Happy Holidays to you and the Family. :)

We love those cuts of rib meat. My butcher calls them Western rib roasts. Very rich, tender and sweet meat off of that cut. Grills up beautifuly... your roasts look fantastic. :cheer:
    Merry Christmas
