which produces more heat, the bge chiminea or a propane outdoor heater? was thinking of buying one for these cold winter months, but do not have a clue as to which one would work best. thanks for your opinions.

  • I would say the propane as it operates as an infared type heater. Assuming you are talking about the patio type propane heaters.

I agree: infrared propane prolly warmer, more even heat, easier. But then again, where is the romance of an infrared heater vs a real wood fire? Besides, "A log warms you twice", as the saying goes (prolly even more if you count cutting down the tree, hauling it out of the woods, cutting it up, splitting, stacking, carrying it in, etc, etc).

    Funny Burt.

I've been running a chainsaw and splitting wood with a maul the past two hours, then toting it all uphill into the garage and stacking it.

I'm so warm I have no desire to build a fire tonight ;)
