  • You might check some of the local meat markets, especially those that cater to competition cooks. They often sell smoking wood. The pieces may be large for use in off-set type smokers but you can easily cut off chunks for your Egg. One bag should be about $5 and will last for years.

We don't have a shortage of places to get smoking wood here but sometimes we have to settle for chips for some of the less known smoking woods.

    Good smoking to you.

  • go to any pecan orchard and pick up limbs. they work great, use small ones and cut up big ones. no need to order pecan wood if you are in north fl. make a road trip to thomasville..

Cherry and Apple should be available at Wal-Mart even if only in chip form. At least it is enough for yuou to try the flavor before investing in larger pieces and paying shipping. Good luck and Happy Eggin. :)

Pecan orchard? The closest thing to a pecan orchard around here is a bag in the grocery store that says "Diamond" on the label. hahaha

Lowe's seems to carry apple, hickory and mesquite. If you have a Cabella's nearby, they have cherry, alder, apple, hickory and mesquite as I recall. Mostly chips though.

Maple is good too - especially if it's from deadfall branches in your front yard. :)

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!
