The other day RRP posted his Christmas Cookie Tradition so I thought I would follow up with ours.
We have the grand daughters over 6 come over to cook cookies just before Christmas.
Trying to make black frosting for boots & buttons... not there yet.
Just to give it an additional touch I snuck in a small amount of citric acid.
Then the girls got to decorating Grandpa - sorry no pictures, no one was getting to touch the camera after that.
Great day but the old man is worn out.

Beautiful girls! My 12 year old daughter (going on 21) came out and helped me with Christmas lights today
. She was 3 or 4 about a week ago, or so it seems. We blink and they are heading to college and into their own world!

Frosting went from a deep green poop look to really deep green, never got to black.

I know, Darn lucky!!!
5 kids plus spouses and 16 grand kids so far. Grandma and I are thinking there could possibly be 3 more in the future. Except for one son and daughter in law who have 5 now (1 adopted). I sometimes wonder if they know where the kids are coming from.
It's total mayhem when they are all together but I don't help much. I like to get them stirred up, commotion is our goal. I am always catching hell from the adults, but I have fun, grandma well she just looks at am and shakes her head.
Love being Grandpa.

Dave, I know what you mean 12 going on 21. I would go crazy raising teenage kids now-a-days. It sure is fun to watch them develop and see how they interact with the world as they are growing up.
If you think time is going fast now, just wait. It doesn't get any slower.

We had a great time, me probably the most. Grandma loves them, Grandpa plays tricks on them (and loves them).

Thanks Molly, back from the family party, I think Santa was a little juiced but all in all it was a great time.
I am heading into the front room to relax before crashing.
I think I have had all the fun I can stand for a day.

Not sure how good the cookies tasted, but the fun was a 12 on a scale of 1 to 10. We made some white frosting and then used food coloring to get the other colors. The girls were having a ball making the different colors. As you can see there were plenty of colors for decorating.

What a great group of gals you got there! I could thank of a lot worst ways to be wore out at the end of the day (like getting up at 2:15 am for work!LOL). We are leaving when I get off work for Maw-in -law's and my neice and nephew in N. Ark. for Christmas. They are mad because I'm not taking the Harley but can't get the presents on the bike! :laugh:

Thanks, last night at the family Christmas party I looked at my wife and said look at what we started.
I said in 10 years or less this will almost double, dates, marriages, and such.
Right from the wife and I down there are 28 of us all in all.
I do enjoy the grand kids though.
