OK - I know this forum is probably not to ask questions about hottubs BUT

my buddy - who has an egg (and is the reason why I have an egg and why I kiss a green cermanic thing goodnight most nights) - owns s hot tub which is RIGHT next to his egg - so I have been thinking about investing in a hot tub - starting to research and everyone says that HOT SPRINGS and SUNDANCE are good tubs!

so my question to anyone that has a tub!
-What brand do you recommend
-do you use your tub on a regular basis (worried the novelty may wear off within a year)
-how often do you use

any feedback back in appreciated!

Thks

While I cannot help I do think you may have come to the perfect place for your info. Only time will tell but we do have some hot tub people on here.

I hope you get the info you need.

Had a really nice one for several years...the first six months you use it about every other weekend...the second six months, you have tried everything you wanted to try...if you know what I mean, and then in years to follow the usage becomes occasional to months between use...

...then the conversations go like this..."we should do this more often you know..." but you never do. This is the same story for about a dozen people that I know had them when we lived in Florida. Just my two cents...but another Egg or build a kitchen around it.

    Thanks Bordella!

I was a little worried about posting a different subject but thinking people that enjoy the egg - probably also enjoy some other nice things in life such as a hottub!

bring it on as I am worried about spending the $ then not using it after a year or so!

I keep thinking about bringing my wifes 2 sisters over and having a nice dinner and with plenty of wine! did I say, plenty of wine! Then soaking all natural!

We have had a Bullfrog for about 6 years. The changeable jet packs was one of the features that sold us on that model. We have never changed them. The ones we have are good for us and the seats are very comfortable.

That said, it is a good unit and is very inexpensive to run and is fairly maintenance free. The novelty does wear off, but we still use it a few times a month - more so in the colder months than in the summertime.

    My recommendations would be:

Get a 220 volt unit instead of a 110 volt. They are cheaper to run and more efficient.

Buy bigger than you think you need. If you think a four person unit is big enough, then buy the five person. Get one with two loungers instead of one.

Spend the money on the inline chemical or ozone purifiers. Adding chemicals and having the floating things in there gets to be a pain. You might even think about paying for someone to come once a month or so to check and adjust your chemicals and pH, clean the filters, and do water changes when needed.

Send AZRP an offline email. I think he knows a thing or two about spas. He may not feel it proper to answer online, so shoot him an email offline and I'm sure he'll help you out.

This is the model hot tub I bought new in 1999. I still use it on occasion and I have changed three motors and pumps sense I have owned it. I have changed the heating element once but I think it is ready for a new one again. This tub has an ozonator so no need for chemicals other than keeping up with the pH virtually maintenance free. I have been very happy with this hot tub. I get kidney stones quite often and I use the jets to pound my kidneys so I will pass a stone. Hope this helps. Tim

I paid around $6000. delivered and I still had to wire it to the house but, that was ten years ago.

lol, whenever I hear the word hot tub it reminds me of our province's logo that was changed few years ago from a trillium to this:

  • We bought a sundance cameo last July and we truly love it. We try to use it 4 or 5 times a week. I can honestly say I haven't had a better night sleep after sitting in it. I spent the extra and got a sundance because of reputation. I also liked the design of the jets. Here are a couple of things I have learned. 1. don't spend the extra grand for the radio. You can buy portable ones that do the trick. Plus my wife and I have really good conv while in the tub. 2. Put it as close to the door as you can. If you are in cold climats you want to get in asap. 3. if you go with sundance make sure you hook it up with 60 amp circuit. This allows all of the pumps and heater to run if you use 40 or 50 the heater won't work when both pumps are on. 4. build a fence or put it so it is out of the wind Ok hope I didn't bore you. We love our tub and are actually going out in a few it is 32 degrees here and it will be awesome1
