Exhaust hood in a screened in lanai

I have removed a vermont casting gas grill (built in) and have a medium egg
on order. My plan is to position the egg under a Braun Model WPD281 exhaust
hood with interior blower. Any thoughts appreciated.

Perhaps it is me and the late hour, but I don't exactly understand what the quesiton is here..... could you please elaborate a bit?
  • Sorry for the vague question. My main concern is the amount of smoke generated
by the Egg in an area with little cross ventilation. The Broan hood did an excellent
job with a gas grill but never did much serious smoking with the gas. My main
concern would be about any build up of emissions not captured by the exhaust
    hood.
    Thanks

Moose...I am sure others will chime in at the more "normal" hours....but one of the wonderful things about the Egg is that is isn't a "Chugger" of smoke! The only time it generates much smoke AT ALL is when you first add the smoke wood. You let the grey smoke burn off, and then it burns quite clean! (to the point that offset smoker folks think its not smoking!) But you are still adding smoke flavors. So...my only concern would be the initial addition of the wood, or the lump for that matter....but once the "yuck smell" has burned off, it really runs clean!!! Don't know the volume of your vent, and I am assuming this is not indoors.... Wish I had a better idea of your set up, etc..... Might you be again, a bit more specific? I would guestimate you are good to go if the hood was handling a prior grill....my only concern is the initial addition of smoke wood, when it can get (temporarily) smokey.
I am sure others will chime in soon....

I was able to look up some info on the hood and the recommended blower. Moose will have to confirm on the blower but this should apply to a typical installation.

    The hood is:

    The recommended blower is:

    Hope this helps.
