Cracked Grate

Was cleaning both L & S eggs this afternoon in preparation for a weekend of cool weather Egging. I noticed a substantial crack on the grate. I don't guess it my Egg is new anymore, although less than two years old. Back in it went. I'm lucky to live near the Mothership so I can get by there for a warranty replacement anytime. Meanwhile, it is time for chicken, asparagus, bacon wrapped dates, & blackberry cobbler.

I'd replace it if it didn't cost more than $20, but I wouldn't postpone any cooks. I'm sure it will work just fine.__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious

It's a warranty replacement. FREE...

I consider it a badge of honor. Mine just did it as well and now I finally feel like I'm a true egghead...if only I had some Bomba sauce...

I might just see how long it takes it to break in two.

Geez Ron,
One of mine is in two separate pieces. Wanna pick one up for me since you are so close.

Glad to see you didn't let the cracked grate interfere with a cook. That shows you to be a true egghead. Bet the grub was just as good with the cracked grate.

I am humbled by the size of your crack. Someday, I too may achieve what you and Steven have...

So, mine is cracked as well. I did not realize the CI lump grate was under warranty. Do I call the mothership or go to a dealer or what? Tim

If you go to your dealer to pick it up, it should be free. If you have either the dealer or BGE ship it to you, you will have to pay for shipping. At least that was the way it worked for me when my CI grid cracked. On my third one now. Since August.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Heck, I LOST mine and my dealer gave me a free one.

Your new one will crack also. Now that the stress is relieved, just keep using it.

MIne is cracked in two with a big chunk missing out the middle. My "dealer" was happy to see me when he thought I was buying a CI grid. When he found out all I needed was a CI grate on warrantee the excitement quickly faded to, "I'll call you when I get one in..." No call in two weeks, now I have to go by and bug him once again.
