Cherry pits?

I live here in cherry-laden Michigan, and a local grower is selling 33lb bags of pits for $4 a bag. Would these be any good to smoke with? I know wherry wood works well, I wonder if the pits have the same effect?

3Pedals....Obviously I suggest researching this further...I have NO clue honestly...but was able to locate this one website....

You may even send them an email asking them what they mean by pellet stoves....don't know if that means smoking or not. Just make sure you find out from someone who knows for sure, as fruit pits tend to contain far more oils and such.... (as an example, apple seeds contain cyanide.......but you'd have to eat thousands of seeds!! ) So just acknowledging the post, increasing my knowledge, and encourage you to post the result. I will truly be curious. Thanks! -
This post is pretty interesting too. Read the ENTIRE thing though, including the folks input at the bottom.

It remains controversial at least...so again, I would just try to do more research.
(Sounds like the cherry pits make great pillows, or draft dodgers for drafty door bottoms though  ) -
A pellet stove is used to heat your home.
See here. -
For $4 its worth trying, throw some in the Egg and if you don't like the smell of the smoke, don't cook anything and let it burn out. -RP
