OT: 5 liter Beer Tap System?
NJ-GrEGG
Posts: 171
Does anybody own one of these small beer taps designed for 5 liter mini kegs? http://www.avantiproducts.com/index.php?page=products&id=261
If this is any good I would consider getting it for our new bar area. The conventional keg setups are too large for what I need.
Thanks!!!!!

Yea, I used to have one of those as well as a kegerator. Works great, but I found myself drinking more than I should.
But hey, if you can control yourself, go for it. -
Thanks Boxerpapa! I could not find any reliable online reviews on the 5 liter tap. Some said it worked others said it didn't.
I can see how these things can be dangerous! -
I bought one of the beertenders last year before the Coop Party.

Frankly, it was a bit too warm in the Coop during the party to use it without getting some foam. Didn't slow Susan Egglaine down though. LOL
I was really disappointed that it didn't work for me. I liked the beer well enough and especially liked the idea of stepping up and getting me a sip or a mug full anytime I wanted it. Plus, it added a nice touch to the Coop.
About a month ago I was in one of those high-end kitchen stuff stores and they had a pile of the better models marked down to $99. I scooped up one and brought it home with a fresh keg of beer. The first glass was perfect, as were all the rest since then.
The secret is how warm it is where the machine is used. About 80° is about all it can take. 75° or below would be ideal.
I will probably pack it away during the hot months. But right now I'm happy.
