I have a frozen butterball turkey. I want to brine a turkey for thanksgiving will this turkey work or do I need a different one? I was doing some reading and it seems frozen butterballs are already brined?

I have read the same thing. Frozen Butterballs are injected with a solution that helps keep them moist.
Brine will make them overly salty. -
I wopuld use the one you have without any additional brining. The egg cooks in nearly a sauna type environment. The turkey will come out as juicy and moist as any bird could. Make sure you cook to temp and not time. Cooking times will be shorter then what you are used to as the egg cooks like a convection oven. Also, IMO don't use wood chips as they bird can easily get overly smokey. Good luck!

almost all frozen turkeys have some kind of injected solution to promote juicyness (is that a word?). If you brine it it will turn out salty.
I'm going to use a 'fresh' refrigerated turkey like I did last year if I can find one locally; our problem is we have no refrigerator space for thawing this year.Visit my blog, dedicated to my Big Green Egg Recipies at http://www.bigtsbge.blogspot.com You can also follow my posts on FaceBook under the name Keep On Eggin' or the link http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Keep-On-Eggin/198049930216241 -
Unless you like a smokey / smoked turkey
.
I always use some additional smoke wood, most often apple. -
How long do you think it would take to thaw a 20lb turkey?
-
I did a test run turkey yesterday and I thawed it in the fridge for 5 days. It was 20lbs. Thanks for the replies. I was hoping to do the maple brine.

I plan to do a Mad MAx cook no brine. This will be a first for me. Tim

You and your family will be pleased with the results.
