I am thinking about purchasing a wok with the spider from the Ceramic Grill Store. Is there anything else I need to purchase to make this a happy marriage? I'm looking to enhance my grilling skills and add some new accessories to my tool box.

You might consider a bamboo steamer basket in the future.

My preference in woks are the steel handled ones. While the wood handles work, you have to leave the top open and it is hard if you are doing any steaming.

I could be wrong because I don't have those itmes but, could you use the ci searing grate and the pizza stone for the spider. So, you can sear meat down low or go indirect. Tim

TJV has hammered steel woks - very reasonable. They are the best for using on the egg or otherwise. All the rest are overpriced yuppie woks IMHO.

You will need to season the wok just like you season a CI pot. Easy Peazy Lemon Squeezy. Light coating of Crisco or Bacon Fat and then put it on the spider and basically blacken the wok. DON'T USE PEANUT OIL, VEGETABLE OIL, OR ANY OTHER OIL - USE CRISCO OR BACON FAT - oops sorry for the shouting. Roll the wok around so you cover each area at least twice. Also pick up a nice wok paddle (ladle, spatula) - they work well.
