CAUTION FIRE HAZARD

Thought that I would cook some St Louis for 6 hours on my large. They cost $1.29 for the entire slab yesterday. Had the butcher remove the brisket from 6 slabs and cooked in a pot for chile yesterday. Sorry no pictures.
After the ribs were done decided to nuke the BGE and get some of the junk burned off, plate setter, metal top, 3 or 4 grids and a few pizza screens.
My Large is 9 years old and bought 7 years ago. The previous owner had placed a floor tile directly on the bottom and , in my early years here had no idea about those things. Keep saying I am going to redo the table and gasket. Long ago fried. my longest cooks are 5-6 hours for ribs and no pizza YET! Anyway tonight for the second time in 4 months decided to go nuke and burn the bad guys. This is the second time the table has burned.

Got around 600F and noticed that in the 1-3 o'clock position my table was red hot section of coals. Happened the last time and am very aware of the problem. Due to my recent hip surgery, just have not gotten around to redoing the table.

The grey matter is hot coals on the outside. Been looking for a reason to get a anew table. Be careful my fellow eggers.

Those are the kind of pics I don't show my wife. She still doesn't understand a man's attraction to FIRE. She's afraid of my MAPP torch.

Richard, I have a large in a BGE table about the same age as yours and the table was a perfect fit to the Egg (no gap). I could see where it would get hot enough to burn. The paver and feet give a little more room but the hole could stand to be opened up a little bit more.

you will want to check the bottom for cracks, sometimes really difficult to see until you turn it over. usually starts with a very fine line starting in the corner of the lower vent hardly noticable til you look at the bottom.fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
