Need Tri-tip advice

I am about to attempt a tri-tip using the Eggs by the Bay recipe: http://eggsbythebay.com/Recipes.php
I have just a couple of questions.
1) when I am doing the initial sear, do I close the egg?
2) When I put the tri-tip back on after resting, do I cook indirect?
Thanks for any help.

I do mine the other way, I cook at 250 dome indirect till 125 degrees, then remove and rest, then I sear direct. That help you at all?

Hey Tex,
That is my go to recipe for tri-tip, it is outstanding. I do my sear w/the Egg open and I roast it direct, but I think indirect would work also.
Enjoy! -

Thanks for the info. Another question. Do I flip the tri-tip during the roast phase or just leave it be?

If you roast direct, you will need to flip on occaision. We usually stabilize the egg at 400*, sear direct for a few minutes each side, then raise the grid and finish raised direct, flipping on occaision.
