hey CW...i may have to cook pulled pork sammies for a homeless shelter in the near future....approx - 70 - 90 sandwiches...given all that pulled pork you've been cooking this year for the troops, about how much poundage raw do you figure per sandwich/person when buying butts?

30 pounds will yield 70 quarter pound sandwiches.
38 pounds will yield 70 third pound sandwiches -
thanks wolfie. . ..better too much than too little ..

Especially with people who don't get a lot of food in the first place.
Bless you Max for doing this cook.. -
Max,
You have e-mail -

sam's girlfriends parents (along with others) make sandwiches for some shelter first saturday of every month. ...usually ham and cheese or PB&J ...told them i couldn't help them this month but would do the december sammies with them ...and will give them a nice change from the usual!!
yeah, its a 'mitzvah'!! -
dividing guests by 2.4 and adding a butt just incase has worked for me but my crowds arent really pulled pork eaters. big question is how much will they want and 100 percent will be eating, there will be those wanting seconds maybe thirdsfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

thanks fish...i think these folks simply get handed one sandwich per person, but i'll definitely make more than is required. . .butts are cheap. . ..

Just watch the sugar in the sauce. Homeless people systems aren't used to rich foods.
I am sure they will appreciate the food.
