Looks great! how did you do the veggies? I made brussel sprouts last night that were ok but wifey didn't like. How did you do them? they look great.
-
First of all they were not made on the BGE as I do not have a pan yet that I can use.
Sauteed 1/2 of a thinly sliced onion and the quartered brussell sprouts until lightly carmelized. Then added a thinly sliced apple, 1 Tab. fresh minced ginger and cooked for 2 minutes. The added about 1/2 cup apple cider, or you could also use apple juice, and sauteed until veggies were done to your liking. Then 2 pats of butter to thicken to sauce. I think these would be so good cooked on the egg.
Tonite dinner was canned B & M beans, brown bread, and a chicken sauage cooked inside. Yuk. Back to the egg tomorrow. -
The brown bread, was that a B&M canned product you used? We used to be able to get that here. I love it!! Grew up with it.
Thanks!!Molly

Molly, yes it was B & M Brown Bread. But it wasn't like it used to years ago. I don't know if they changed the recipe. I hadn't had it in a while. It tasted gummy tonight. Nice flavor but poor texture.
I do have a Boston Brown Bread Recipe that I could post that is very good and reminded me of the B & M recipe from years ago. Let me know if you want it. Next cold rainy day I am going to make it again myself. -
You know I want that!! Thanks!
You will bake that on the egg..right?
Take pictures too!! Molly

No I won't be cooking it on the egg as the brown bread is steamed. Here's the recipe:
Boston Brown Bread
Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
2 cups unsifted, all purpose flour
2 cups yellow cornmeal
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/3 cups milk
1 1/3 cups buttermilk
3/4 cup dark molasses
1 cup dark raisins
Grease 2 (1-lb.size) coffee cans
Into a bowl, sift together flour, cornmeal, baking soda and salt.
In a small bowl, combine milk, buttermilk and molasses
Gradually add milk mixture to flour mixture; beat with a spoon until well combines. Stir in raisins
Pour mixture into the coffee cans, filling each about 2/3 full. Tie pieces of heavy aluminum foil tightly voer the top
of each can.
Place cans on a rack in a deep kettle. Add boiling water to kettle to come halfway up sides of the cans. Cover the kettle.
Steam 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Add more boiling water to kettle as needed to maintain level
Remove can to a wire rack; Cool.
For serving later, cool bread in cans; store covered in refrigerator. To reheat; Place covered can on rack in boiling water in large kettle and steam 30 min or until heated through. -
Very good!! Thank you!Molly
