Lobsters are very expensive around these parts, any reason the dip recipe wouldn't work equally well with shrimp or crab or even oysters? -RP

no reason why shrimp and crab won't work. oysters may turn out to be an "experiment" i picked up 'lobster stock base' at reasaurant depot and use it as the stock for lobster chowder [made with shrimp] tastes great.

If you happen to have a Sprouts near you, they had the southern lobster tails on sale at the fish counter today. I meant to get them so I could try the dip, but got sidetracked by the $4.99/lb wild caught salmon...Egging in Crossville, TN

Richard that is about as similar as a Primo cooker and a big Green egg! :pinch: I think crab meat in it would be great and plan on doing it myself when we get to FL and go crabbing. not sure about the oysters?? but maybe chopped clams might work drained. I think the whole body of the oyster might add to much juice..... I bet some smoked salmon wold not be to bad either... but with a base of that much cream cheese you can't go wrong

Michelle, I see you are from Denton. Will you be coming to Plano on November 7th? Maybe we could try some different versions of the lobster dip to help Randy out.Judy

Richard, that sounds great -- thanks for posting.

Randy, I think it would be fantastic with shrimp or crab. I was thinking of giving it a try with both myself. I love oysters, but I'm not sure they would be right in it. Let me know if you try it though.
