Brisket on XL, no platesetter.

I am thinking about doing a big Brisket on my new XL this weekend. But my XL is an old floor model from the store I work at with the old Fire Ring. And we did not have any of the old Platesetters left when I got it. I did grab the XL Baking Stone though, and the XL Double Rack. So I was thinking about putting the BS on the grid, and the Brisket on the Second Rack. Any thoughts from the XL Egg-sperts?

That set up sounds fine. I'd also put foil over the stone, and a drip pan on top of the stone to stop dripping from going into the fire. Have fun, Scott

Did that very thing, used some fire brick to support the second grid, to give enough height for a deep drip pan (lots of liquid) on top of the stone. Just watch your height, XL dome not as tall, play with it before you light it up, to be sure it all fits. Then go for it!!
