whuff/sizzle?

Many of us know well the "whuff" sound an egg backdraft makes...but have you ever heard your eyelashes sizzle? I stifled the air flow on a hot fire tonight, and then stupidly opened the lid about 5 minutes later. Only lost a little knuckle hair, and almost no eyebrow hair, but the tips of my eyelashes turned blonde and curled up, and I distinctly heard a slight sizzling sound right after the "whuff". I'm guessing it was the lashes.
