Morning All:

This is a recipe my mother has made for years. I have done it a couple of times on the Egg before, but probably not since I began taking pictures of what is cooked :ermm:

It is called "HAM LOAF" (recipe at end of post).

EggHatter had gotten about 4#'s of ground pork a couple days ago and today got 4#'s of ham to grind such that we ended up with four 2# loaves...

Decided to cook all of them, have one for tonight and foodsaver the rest for meals down the road. Here they are on the Egg, indirect with a couple chunks of Apple (thanks Neil & MaineEgg) and a couple chunks of cherry...

Also put a couple of sweet tators on and here they are just before coming off (I ate the pineapple pieces on the ones on top since they got a little well done from the glaze)...

Here was the one for tonight (pineapple chunks from the two lower ones)...

on the plate with sweet tators (butter, DP Pineapple Head and some of the glaze on the tators)...

RECIPE
Ham Loaf ingredients...
1 lb. ground ham
1 lb. ground pork
0.5 cup oats
4 slices broken bread
0.33 cup chopped onions
1 beaten egg

Shape meat and other ingredients into loaf. Bake at 350 for 1.5 hours or until done. Pour glaze over top of loaf and baste while it is baking.

Glaze...
1.5 cups brown sugar
0.25 cup white vinegar
0.5 cup water
1 tsp. dry mustard
0.5 cup pineapple juice

Mix glaze ingredients in pan over low heat to dissolve the brown sugar and combine.

I poured about 0.25 cup glaze over each loaf every 15 minutes for the first hour. Also keep some glaze in reserve for having when serving.

Have a GREAT day!
