I just bought a BGE yesterday. Can you put cast iron pots in the BGE? Also do you have to get the BGE Pizza Stone? One more question, what can be used as a drip pan. Thanks for any help

Question 1...yes i have CI skillets & DO...cut the handles off of the skillets so they fit
Question 2...the BGE pizza stone is recommended because of its thickness..you will use it for baking bread, biscuits, cakes, etc
Question 3...a drip pan can be Heavy Duty Aluminum foil or af pans or cookie sheets, etc..whatever fits & can catch drippings and will not burn
enjoy the BGE... :P

1) yes, CI works quite well in your BGE.
2) No you do not have to get the BGE stone but most others are thinner and tend to break after very little use. The BGE stones hold up quite well.
3) I use disposeable aluminum pans when I use one but most of the time I don't use one at all. Just cover your platesetter with foil if you want it to stay white & not black like the interior of your egg.
Welcome and ask us anything you need.

Once you get some eggsperience, there are some great aftermarket accessories you will wonder how you lived without.
1) www.ceramicgrillstore.com
2) www.playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com (Thirdhand grid lifter)
3) www.thermoworks.com (Thermapen instant read thermometer)
Need to go ahead a get a continuous-read temp probe (wireless is optional). - Maverick E-73 is commonly used here - use mine on every cook!
Another BGE ! :woohoo: -
1) Yes, CI is great in the egg. Enamelled cast iron works well too.
2) No. I use a standard, store-bought pizza stone, but a little caution here. First, pizza stones from Pampered Chef have been reported to crack at the high temps used in the egg. Second, be careful what you do with a hot pizza stone. I store all my eggcessories in my BGE between cooks. I once put everything away before the stone had cooled, and the cold metal grate placed over the hot stone caused it to crack.
3) If all I need to do is keep stuff from dripping into the fire or onto my plate setter, or deflect the heat a bit, I generally just fold up the edges on a piece of foil. No cleanup necessary. But if you want to cook veggies in the drip pan, or use the drippings for sauce, any metal pan will work. If you're using the plate setter, though, it's best to raise the drip pan off the plate setter (the green feet that come with the egg work well, or a baking rack, copper fittings, etc...anything that will keep the pan off the plate setter). The plate setter deflects the direct heat from the coals, but it DOES get very hot, so your drip pans, pizza stones, etc, need to be raised off the plate setter.
Oh yeah...and welcome to the cult. ;-) -
"Can cast iron pots be put in the egg?"
Sure can, both CI and Enameled CI.

No you don't have to get the BGE pizza stone but make sure you get a very thick stone, and don't use a Pampered Chef stone as they seem to continually break.
BGE has a great pizza stone.
Drip Pans, I use a 14" stainless steel deep dish pizza pan most always lined with HD aluminum foil.
Doing it again I would order drip pans from forum member tjv over at the Ceramic Grill Store.com it's a great "toy store". If you have a large you may as well order the Adjustable Rig and Spider, Wok as well as some other accessories.
You can see the drip pan in the chili cook below. I am using the drip pan sitting on top of the inverted spider to hold the smaller diameter ceramic CI Dutch Oven.
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new egg.
