Lobster and Stone Crabs tonight...

Welcome to Florida!!
Oct. 15 was the first day of stone crab season in Florida, but since I was attending Eggtoberfest, I missed the first day for the first time in years. So today when I went to the fish market to buy the stone crabs, I saw they had fresh Florida rock lobster as well - so... this was dinner:
Here is the lobster split in half:
The lobster cavity is stuffed with a lump crab mixture with shredded parmesan cheese and spices:
Here they are on the Mini - yes, the MINI, I just had to curl the tail around to make it fit, and a couple of legs stuck out one side of the egg a little, oh well:
They cooked at 375 dome for about 20 minutes, took them off and put the stone crabs on for 5 minutes, cause I like my stone crabs hot instead of cold:
Plated pic - served the stone crab with a mustard mayonnaise, and brushed the tails with a lemon tarragon butter.
Now come on down to Florida and have some!

I miss the stone crabs since I moved from Fla. The only problem with Caribbean lobsters is they don't have claws. But with the stone crabs that little problem is solved! -
Desert Oasis Woman - stone crabs will still be in season in March, so there is a chance you will be able to get some.
I haven't picked up the new egg yet, but when I do, I will post a pic of it coming to it's new home.

Faith, all I can say is oh my god!!! That looks fantastic!! My 2 absolute favorite seafoods are stone crabs and FL lobster. What are the stone crabs going for this year? Those look like jumbos to me. Love the tarragon butter idea on the lobster. Woman! You're awesome!! Did you have any guests passing through for dinner? :woohoo:

Anne, the jumbos today were 2-3 per lb. for $26 per lb. The ones I bought were 4 per lb. for $16. The lobster weighed almost 2 lbs. and was $7 per lb. Wish you were here!
