Neil and I got to the airport to find we were 12 pounds over weight. the suitcase not us.. we we had a case of Big'uns Carnivore sauce in the suitcase. We can't carry it on... had to be checked.... we could go buy another suitcase in the airport and then pay 25.00 to check it....So they tell us if we do not want to do that then toss it or pay 90.00 to get it home. lol we had to pull half the clothes out of the suitcase and carry them. we got the stupid thing down to 50 lbs and off we went to check in. my bag, the camera bag, the cooler with the steak and left over Stilton cheese with the ginger and mango from the after party (I was not leaving that!!) my laptop case and 4 coats and one carry one suit case with a pair of jeans strapped on it. now most of that crap would have fit in the big suit case but we had to lug it... and the weight was still on the plane????? and the over head compartments were PACKED SOLID!!! but we are home lol just another fest story :)

Funny Julie,,, I was only 4 pounds over so I took out a paperback book and handed him $10 and was good to go. Like you the overweight charge would have been $90 and I would have paid it before I tossed the bomba ;)

Julie, a similar story.......Loren & I had 99 lbs in 2 suitcases one was 60 lbs & the other 39...we were told to pay an astronomical figure just for that.......so we took them off the scales opened them right in front of them & the line & weighed item by item so we could rearange the contents & end up with one weighing 50 lbs & the other 49lbs.....I thought it was ridiculous...but anyway....we didnt pay any extra...
  • This is why I'm starting to buy items on sight when I travel and ship them back UPS ground or USPS. Went to Florida last year and it was far cheaper for me to buy a fishing pole, some light tackle, and leave it in the condo for next time rather than to pay extra to fly that stuff down & back.

I've even just bought cheap clothing if needed and dropped it in a Goodwill box rather than packing. I might come out even or a little behind on that but hey it goes to a needy cause.
