New market here, outstanding!

There is a new market opening here that just happens to be right on my way home from work. They have a couple locations in the Phoenix area, and Filly and I visited one today. WOW! First oriental market I've ever been in that didn't stink for starters. Each aisle had ingredients from different parts of the world. They had Japan, Philippines, Carribean, African, Indonesian, Indian, Cajun, etc, etc, etc. The variety of fresh fish was amazing, they had live lobsters, tillapia, cat fish, crawfish, and blue crabs. The store is going to open here in the next few weeks, I can't wait. -RP

Sounds like the Talon World Market in ABQ NM. each isle was from a different country. The coolest thing was the produce dept was set up about the same and you could get fresh fruits and veggies from around the world. Makes it a lot better when trying to re-create exotic food and dishes.

Randy, I've heard about and been wanting to check out the one in Chandler. I'll have to do that next time we're in town. It looks fantastic. Wow!!

Here in Atlanta we have the Hmart.
HMart

WoW, we have one grocery in town and our choices are most processed or pre packaged foods. It is getting worse and worse. more and more people are going out of town to shop, about 40 minutes and they just get in more "fast" food items. It must be what they are selling to keep expanding it so but I just don't get it :(

Nice find Randy, the Chandler one is about 30 miles from me, I have to check it out. I had to laugh when I read "doesn't stink".
When I was visiting my aunt in San Jose Ca. I went into one and walked right out as it smelled so bad. :(
Thanks,

you are going to have fun there, we have an ASSI market here, look for yakitori sauce and tonkatsu sauce and if you want to borrow any japanese cook books let me know bill

Nothing like a grocery that has everything you want in one place and isn't like the standard grocery stores.
You can expand your eggsperiences now!

It's a bit of a drive for us but we have Jungle Jim's which in nothing less than mind boggling. Huge store with stuff from all over the globe. The real plus is that the owner of the place is a saint when it comes to supporting his community and workers.
They boast:
- 300,000 sq feet of retail space (6 1/2 acres)
- over 150,000 items from 75 countries
- 50,000 shoppers a week
- 1400 cheeses
- And the best part - 12,000 wine labels and 1,200 beer labels to choose from! If they don't have it...you don't need it.
We never leave without dropping $200 there. Very easy to do.

Hi RP, I shop at Lee Lee a couple times a month down in Chandler. I just take a cooler with me and load up on their goods.
We buy all our chicken wings there, cut fresh and you can get the drummettes separate from the double-bone part (don't know what it is called). I buy some of their pork cuts that you can't find elsewhere, and of course their fish is very fresh (still swimming around, actually). Fabulous selection of produce, too.
It is fun, where else can you see chicken feet, pigs snout, beef blood, and other unusual delicacies.
Best part is that they take 10% off everything at the register, so prices are great.
Enjoy. - Scott -
Man...I just have Walmart. I've got to move to a real city!

I'm in St. Cloud now....finally, and I'm lost. Walmart and Publix seem like it. Any suggestions?

You'll find them there talking with the locals or we have a couple decent places over here in Melbourne
