I have this exact cabinet and a deck box that I store lump in. Has been a very good combination.

That is so organized! And everything right at hand. Would it be stable if it was several feet high?

Absolultely it would be stable if taller. Mine is very short due to the fact that it sits in a small area beneath my gas grill (aka other storage compartment). Due to the limited height I had to work with, I had to insert my shelving unit into its space in pieces because it is actually taller than the opening. As a result I did not "hard plumb" it together, meaning the top shelf is not glued to the middle shelf at the fittings. If you were to construct a taller unit, I would recommend hard-plumbing it together with PVC primer and PVC cement, which is really very simple to do. That would add quite a bit of stability. At that point, you would probably want to store your heavier items (plate setter, ceramic stones, etc.) closer to the bottom to avoid toppling. Hope this helps!

Not sure if you can see them in the pics, but I put 2 pavers in the bottom for weight and so far no problemos.

Thanks for the pix. I have the identical unit in the yard for gardening equipment! When I got it 13 years ago I took the pieces out of the box, trying to figure out what goes where. My 5-year-old granddaughter just eyeballed it and supervised by telling her mother and me what to connect with what. Makes me blush to this day!

The shelves that came with it are all bowed but still in it. I really want more shelves for the BGE so there isn't so much wasted space.

  • Thanks to you all for the photos and suggestions. I have to let it all percolate now.

  • Judy,

Sorry I missed your post. Yes, it does have doors. These were frequently used in homes to add closet space.
