walking sticks for smoke?

This big boy is 5" long though the close up is misleading. It's a walking stick bug (Ctenomorphodes chronus) that has been resting on our screen since early this morning. Wonder if I could use it for a little smoke?

I don't know if they are the same spices as the ones we have her in the south but the ones down here don't smell too good.
