Platesetter - Legs Up or Down For Smoke

Just making sure to cross all my t's as tomorrow will be the beginning of my first cook with the egg. For those that didn't see my post last night, I'm smoking a big ole pork shoulder low and slow.
After thinking about it I think I may have answered my own question but I'll ask anyways. Should the platesetter have the legs up or down for smoking? I'm thinking they would go up with the grill on top then as the other way I figure your grill would almost be touching the platesetter if not resting on the platesetter which doesn't seem good.
Yet for those out there, is there recommendation against using the platesetter for smoking and going with just a drip pan?

FWIW -- I net being an expert --
I put the legs up, and the drip pan sitting on the "bottom" of the platesetter.
Grate on top of the legs...
Gopher it! Enjoy!

Hi VT,
This is my medium BGE. I would wrap the plate setter in foil to keep it clean and the drip pan so I can get more then one use from it. Just pretend that the ruler isn't there.
If you are running any probes into your meat I would run the wires over/in line with one of the legs on the plate setter to help protect/keep cleaner from the direct heat of the charcoal.

Legs up. Here's another photo for you:

Can't see the plate setter, can you? Oh well,
The plate setter is legs up, the drip pan is on the plate setter, and the grid (which you can see is at the level of the opening) is on the plate setter legs.
Good luck!The Naked Whiz -
...the only dumb question is the one that you don't ask.
We all want for you to succeed and have a great cook.
