Bad taste with blow torch!
Comments
-
Nope. I doubt you're tasting anything from the MAPP.
Are you letting the lump burn clean before adding the food? I use MAPP all the time and it is a very clean method to start the egg. -
What do you mean "burn clean"?
-
I vote no on the after-taste, especially if you still have a cylinder of MAPP. Since MAPP was discontinued, all of the yellow cylinders now sold are MAP-Pro, which does contain propylene (propylene does have a smell indicator).
I have some of each type and use it for my metalworking as well as starting the cookers from time to time. Both burn so hot I can't believe any noticeable traces remain.Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery -
let the lump burn for 15-20 minites to release any vocs.Nice try STOKER!
-
What Fidel and Thirdeye said. If the bad smoke has not cleared it will pick up that bad taste. If the smoke smells bad it's not ready. I also use a MAPP torch and I never have had a problem with bad taste.
-
If you're absolutely convinced the taste is coming from the torch, get yourself a heat-gun from the paint department of your local hardware store.
Works like a charm. -
"Burn Clean" means to let the fire get established and stable at the temperature you want to cook at, and that most of the smoke from the charcoal has stopped. Charcoal can give off some strong smoke as it is starting. The Naked Whiz
